Portrait Commissions

I create oil and pencil portraits from photographs, capturing the character and individuality of each subject. Every portrait is carefully developed through my own process, with close attention to detail, expression and above all quality.

Two Approaches to Portraiture

Oil Portraits

My oil portraits combine colour, atmosphere and careful observation to capture the character of each subject. Each painting is developed individually from photographs, with close attention to likeness and detail.

Pencil Portraits

My pencil portraits focus on fine detail, tonal range and accurate likeness. Working in graphite, I build each portrait gradually, developing the initial sketch into a finished drawing through careful shading and definition.

Prices are based on a head-and-shoulders oil portrait of one person, painted from a suitable reference photograph. Larger portraits, additional people and more complex compositions are priced accordingly.
